FOX续订《嘻哈帝国》第四季。这是一部独特的家庭故事剧，以嘻哈乐（Hip-Hop）世界为背景。主人公Lucious Lyon（Terrence Howard）是一个迷人的、精明能干的乐坛超级明星，正准备带领自己的帝国娱乐公司上市。他从小在街头长大，养成了争强好胜的性格。为了保护自己的音乐帝国，他永远不会放弃任何一场战斗。但是现在和他争夺王位的是他前妻和三个儿子，他不可能再像以前那样不择手段。
老范名叫范春雷，生于六十年代。按照老范的老婆丁小婉的话讲，老范这的人最大的优点是热情，最大缺点是过份热情。善良中有些愚钝，憨厚中有些自卑；真诚守信，尊长爱幼，在为人处事方面甚至显得有些单纯和不食人间烟火。按北方话讲，老范就是那种凡事从来不把自己当外人的人，换作网络新词就叫“雷”。老范很“雷”，不仅“雷”，而且“春雷滚滚”。作为一个四十多岁的中年人，老范也正处在上有老下有小、面临着中年危机又怀才不遇的尴尬时期。一天，在买早点的途中，范春雷骑着“山寨”版的电动自行车与刚被房产中介开除的失意青年许大来撞在了一起。一场误会使自认倒霉的范春雷成了抢劫犯，耽误了家人的早餐不说，还被派出所的警察按倒在地。尽管冰释前嫌后与许大来成了忘年交，但还是因此丢掉了饭店的厨师工作……
